$25 Gift Card Contest

Brazen Betties on Main Street in Torrington.

Here at In touch…with the Litchfield Hills, we have a focus to connect the community as well as to support local area businesses. It’s part of who we are! As I continue to say, this blog is for you, the community. Over on our Facebook Fan Page, we currently have 225 fans, or “Likes”. We’re trying to increase that number to 300. We couldn’t think of a better way to do so than with a contest! Below are the details of our announcement on our Facebook page. It’s quite energetic!

“We have a major announcement that we would like to make. Currently, we have 225 fans on this fan page and were looking to get to 300! Announcing a contest: Whoever is fan number 300 will get a $25 Gift Card to Brazen Betties in downtown Torrington!!!!!! This is aligned with our mission to not only connect the community, but also to support the local businesses in the area. So……who’s going to be our 300th fan?!?! Suggest to all your friends!!!”

We recently did a story on Brazen Betties, listed here, and it has gotten much attention over the past week. Boutique owner Julia Sloan is a positive force in downtown Torrington and has done a terrific job of bringing the community together. We couldn’t think of a better place than Brazen Betties for our first contest. Twenty-five dollars is yours, if your the 300th fan of our Facebook page!  Good luck and be sure to suggest our page to your friends! We hope to announce the winner soon!

Why do you speak in the 3rd person and present “in touch” as it is a large company with all the “we” statments? “here at in touch” do you mean your living room?

      Sam,

Let me answer this question the best way I know how, even though I’m sure there are multiple ways to answer this. “In touch” is in the middle of building itself into a business. We are currently seeking membership with our local chamber of commerce. Now here is where the “we” factor comes in. I attended a few business courses, as well as taken some blog business sessions online. Proffesional advice is to let readers know that you seperate yourself from the business, and include yourself with the business, even if your just one person. You do this by constantly using words that present yourself in the third person. It would be unproffesional to keep saying the word “I” when speaking about yourself and business, though I don’t lay claim to being proffesional, I try to be as much as I could.

I know the above information sounds silly, but I’ve listened to advice of others in the field. I hope that this would answer your question, but if you have further questions, please feel free to contact me at the information listed below.

      Best regards,

      Mike Valletta
