Creativity in the country

As I travel around the Litchfield Hills countryside, there are many things I notice that can easily grab your attention. Take this sign to your left for example, boy, is that surely something to grab your attention, I was almost ready to start looking for the pedestrian cross walk and lights. Yes, there are some things out here in the country that make you chuckle a little bit, though I suppose that goes hand in hand with the enjoyment of living in this neck of the woods.

Other things, however, really grab your attention and make you slam on the brakes as your traveling country roads. One place in New Milford has just that effect. Dynamite Angel. Does the name sound familiar? Dynamite Angel was at Torrington‘s Main Street Marketplace this past summer and due to the amount of success she had, she decided to open her own store on Route 202 in New Milford. This “dangerously cute” boutique is just south of Northville Market, and if you blink you might miss it, but trust me, this is one place you absolutely do not want to miss!

Carolyn Rose

Carolyn Rose, who is the Dynamite Angel, recently put a great deal of hard work and energy into her newly opened boutique which, is not only bright and festive, but also very hip! When you get to meet Carolyn, you will understand quickly why her store is perhaps the hippest store in town. Over the top energetic is certainly just scratching the surface. Her energy, as well as passion for creativity, will inspire you. A tour around the store will show you that her eye of creativity has paid off very well. Looking at some of the pictures listed here, you won’t need me to go into too much detail about the scope of her creativity as it was splattered on every inch of the store, though one of the things that caught my attention was the dressing room. Carolyn used a hoola hoop as a curtain rod! Now that is thinking out of the box.

Many people have inspired Carolyn to get to this point in her life, including local merchant Julia Sloan of Brazen Betties in Torrington. “Julia is my inspiration” Carolyn says, and it’s no wonder why. Both Carolyn and Julia are quite possibly some of the most creative people I know, which is clearly visible through both of their boutiques. Carolyn sells an incredible variety of merchandise, mostly clothing and accessories that are “pre-loved & dangerously cute”. It is the kind of stuff that is sometimes hard to find, and with Christmas coming right around the corner, this boutique is the perfect stop for those hard to get people on your Christmas list.

Across our great Litchfield Hills countryside, there is an incredible amount of great finds such as Dynamite Angel. Our countryside is not only famed for our million dollar views, but also our million dollar shopping opportunities that won’t burn a hole in your wallet. Once you discover these great finds, you’ll want to find even more, which may be just around the corner. Discover what you may be missing, here in Connecticut’s Litchfield Hills.

Dynamite Angel can be found at 279 Litchfield Road (Route 202) just south of Northville Market and is open Thursday-Sunday 12PM-6PM.

.Carolyn Rose opened Dynamite Angel her own pre-loved and dangerously cute clothing and accessories store on Route 202 in northern New Milford with such a genuine passion for her specialized merchandise that you want to root for her uncompromised success like you would your favorite anti-commercial indie rock group. Not circumscribed to the quaint country storefronts typically found on the rural thoroughfare theres something uniquely urban about the shop that is the former vending booth veterans first foray into brick-and-mortar retail business ownership. The inventory is a crash course in sartorial rebellion funky trendsetting attire for those mostly women who revel in a non-conformist rocking rolling lifestyle. The stores interior is at all corners pink not the faintly feminine hue but shocking like the meat of a blood tangerine. At night a cherry-tinged glow from the front window has the approximately 400-square-foot shop radiating warmly comparable to an airport beacon not overwhelming but compelling enough that it belies the otherwise diminutive space.Actually it matches Miss Roses hair. Punk funk bling glam rockabilly rock n roll and eye-candy all of it pre-loved and dangerously cute thats whats for sale.
