Publishers Corner: We’re Just Getting Started

When I first began “In Touch…with the Litchfield Hills” nearly two years ago, I knew it would be a major undertaking on my part as I would have to dedicate time into building it’s very existence. The plan for the site was vague and not thought up, rather a play and learn as you go sort of deal.

Well, nearly two years later, I have played and learned a lot. I left no stone untouched and seized every moment to explore every opportunity that came my way. It’s been a roller coaster ride for me, one I never thought I would have the ability to explore. I’m not a journalist, and I have never had any formal schooling for the journalism industry. Most of what I have learned has been bits and pieces captured from fellow bloggers and news organizations. I often say the best thing you can do is listen, and listening I have done a lot of.

The time has come to stop listening and start acting. I made mention that 2012 would be a huge year for me as a variety of changes will continue to shape just who I am as a person. This blog, has indeed become my life, and I have become even more devoted to it now than ever before.

In Touch has done it’s time, and I do believe it has done it’s time well. However, in order to continue to adapt to an ever changing environment, In Touch will have to expand and move on. You may have noticed many recent columns not portraying the local area or highlighting a variety of topics. As we talk about expansion, we also talk about a complete fresh look and feel of In Touch along with a fresh new name.

A new website is now in the works. Behind the scenes, there is a lot going on, but I’ll be sure to keep you updated throughout the process every step of the way. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to continue this fantastic journey I am on, and I have all of you to thank for it. I’m only as good as my audience is, and boy is my audience good! We interact daily through email correspondence and social media sites. It’s a nice connection to have, and as In Touch expands, you, the sites audience, will be able to have input on what exactly you would like to see on the new site. It is your website after all!

We’re still a ways out from anything major at this point in time, but be sure to keep checking back for more updates. I’m excited to have you along for the ride, but be sure to buckle up, because it’s going to be an interesting one, and I’m quite the driver!
