One thing I love about living in Connecticut is…
You know, that totally awesome season between summer and eight months of winter? Yeah, it’s not only a season. It’s a lifestyle.
Pumpkin spice everything.
Okay, simmer down, pumpkin spice. You’re not the one all be all.
This season is more notoriously known here in New England for our rich harvest, and you don’t have to look any farther than any one of our local farms. Rich with an abundance of apples, pumpkins, and fresh berries all ready for you to pick and enjoy.
This past weekend I got out to one of the local orchards near me, Belltown Hill Orchards in South Glastonbury. At this point, I was totally engulfed in all things Autumn drinking my spiced maple latte from nearby Silk City Coffee in Manchester.
While at the orchard, I hopped on a wagon that shuttled us through this marvelous little orchard that is seemingly tucked into the hillside. Once on the wagon, you were able to get off at a number of different stops all throughout the farm depending upon which apple flavor you liked the most.
Once my bag was loaded up to my hearts content, and I had enough apples that I chowed down on, it was time to return back to square one at the orchard where you got to pick your own pumpkins right before cashing out at the farm store.
An experience like this is 100% New England.
Seriously. You will not find many places like this, and you certainly won’t be able to experience autumn anywhere else like you do in New England.
